About the Author
George Daniel is a former manager of TCO Fly Shop and the author of the bestselling Dynamic Nymphing (978-0-8117-0741-1). He is the owner and operator of Livin on the Fly, a fly-fishing educational/guide company based near his home in Lamar, Pennsylvania. George also conducts fly-fishing seminars and clinics across the country. He lives on the banks of his favorite trout stream with his wife and two children.

Interested in streamer fishing? Do yourself a favor and buy this book!

If you are interested in streamer fishing, you need to read this book. It seems like in more recent years streamer fishing has become this edgy side to fly fishing. You think of flat brimmed hats quasi skater looking dudes who are using flies the names of which you would never repeat around your wife or mother. This is probably fueled by the exciting promise of potential returns of large fish and an adrenalin rush. The first streamer book of substance I came across was written by Joseph D. Bates, Streamers & Bucktails The Big Fish Flies with original copyright 1950 and most recent 1979. Over the years I came across articles in magazines and shared tips from other fisherman but never really found a one stop reference guide. The next real text of substance which started to unravel the mystery a little more was written by Kelley Gallup, Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout, 2004, which I think reignited the streamer enthusiasm and introduced some truly original concepts and an out the door system. George has done a great job compiling some of the best modern streamers into his pattern section of this book and is a great go to reference.
If you are looking for an across the board streamer book that will help you become a more versatile streamer fisherman this is the right book for you. I really appreciated his breakdown of small, medium and large streamers and explained in detail scenarios in which you could apply what he has learned to your local waters. He does an excellent job as well explaining “tweaks” to leader and sinking line combinations to reach optimal depths for presentation. I like that he explains in great detail upstream, across stream, down and across stream, and downstream presentations and the flies that are more specifically designed for each of those scenarios.
In the end the only downside to George Daniels book is he gives away too much. Those of us who went to the school of hard knocks in streamer fishing might not appreciate those skater dudes rising to the top too fast! Great book I highly recommend it! Once again nice job George!

Strip-Set is a comprehensive, well written and researched guide to the ever growing thrill of streamer fishing. The author, George Daniel, is one of the finest anglers in the world. Knowing him personally I can say with great confidence -he is one of the hardest working, kindest individuals I have had the pleasure of meeting. I personally know how much time, effort, heart and soul George has invested in this work. Strip-Set, much like his previous release of Dynamic Nymphing, is not something you will read in a few days. Instead it's a book you will feverishly leaf through in the first minutes of ownership, staring in awe at beautifully composed photography, and easy to understand detailed illustrations. It's also a book you may not read in a traditional method of successive order of chapters, an outcome that can only be attributed to an information and sense of excitement overload, indigenous to owners and readers of George's previous works. The value of reading it cover to cover is only a mere fraction of its worth as a daily reference guide to become a successful streamer angler for life.

Magnum opus on Streamer Fishing

There don't seem to have been many books devoted entirely to streamer fishing, and I'm not aware of any that are recent (other than Strip Set). After reading Strip Set, I don't know that there's a need for another. This book is absolutely amazing. The book contains a detailed, comprehensive discussion of strategies to improve your catch rate with streamers. It discusses matters such as line selection, leader length, pattern selection, casting/presentation angles and retrieve techniques, and which combinations and techniques are likely to work best for particular water types and currents and why. The writing is clear and the information is presented in an easy-to-understand manner. This is not one of those fishing books that you read once, pick up a tip or two and then never look at again. Rather, this is one of those rare books (like Mr. Daniel's earlier book, Dynamic Nymphing) that you will be pulling off the shelf frequently for refreshers and reinforcement. Whether you are a streamer junkie or someone who ties one on only on those occasions when nothing else is working, you will find this book to be an incredible resource and a thoroughly enjoyable read.

About the Author
Ronna Magy has been an ESL adult educator for nearly three decades. She currently serves as ESL Teacher Advisor for LAUSD's Division of Adult and Career Education. Since 2000 she has been involved with Staff Development and teacher training. Ronna is the author of several ESL textbooks including US Citizen, Yes, Life Skills and Test Prep, Stories From the Heart and Beginning Stories From the Heart, and Working It Out. Ronna has been a regular presenter at adult education conferences including the Division of Adult and Career Education's Fall Conference, California Council on Adult Education, CATESOL, and TESOL since 1982. As ESL Teacher Adviser for DACE, she creates and presents workshops on a variety of ESL teaching methods and techniques including learner persistence and goal setting, cooperative learning, lesson planning, reading and writing.

About the Author
Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services and Counseling at California State University at Fullerton. He received his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; and a National Certified Counselor. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 17, Counseling Psychology; and Division 49, Group Psychotherapy); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Both Jerry and Marianne Corey received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Mental Health Counselors Association in 2011, and both also received the Eminent Career Award from ASGW in 2001. Dr. Corey was given the Outstanding Professor of the Year Award from California State University at Fullerton in 1991. He regularly teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling and ethics in counseling. He is the author or coauthor of 15 textbooks in counseling currently in print, along with more than 60 journal articles and book chapters. In the past 40 years Jerry and Marianne Corey have conducted group counseling training workshops for mental health professionals at many universities in the United States as well as in Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, England, and Ireland.

Marianne Schneider Corey, a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, is a National Certified Counselor and a fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. She has been actively involved in providing training and supervision workshops in group process for human-services students and professionals. She also facilitates self-exploration groups for graduate students and continues to conduct training workshops in group counseling with her husband, Dr. Gerald Corey, in various countries. In 2001, the two received the Eminent Career Award for distinguished and major contributions to the field of group work by the Association for Specialists in Group Work.

Cindy Corey is a California-licensed psychologist in private practice in San Diego and on the faculty at San Diego State University Community-Based Block Program. She received her doctorate in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles.

Patrick Callanan is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Santa Ana, California, and a National Certified Counselor. In his private practice he works with individuals, couples, and families. Patrick is on the part-time faculty of the Human Services Program at California State University at Fullerton, where he regularly teaches the internship course. He also offers his time each year to the university to assist in training and supervising group leaders, and co-teaches an undergraduate course in ethical and professional issues.

Masters' Rehab Counseling Program Book

Very good book that allows easy reading. Dr. Corey makes in clear in all his books that the reader should develop their own way of handling consumers. Professionals and students should find this book outstanding scholastic material moving into the realm of counseling. There is not substitute for proper ethics.

INSTRUCTOR'S EDITION

This book came with a great deal of tape and "quality resold books" stickers on the front and spine. The book did not look like the picture posted. I peeled off the stickers and found it to be the instructor's edition. However, there does not seem to be much of a difference between the instructor's edition, and student edition. And it was a good price, and came in good timing. Just a warning that it is a bit of false advertising.

Not the most brilliant resource out there

There are plenty of grammatical errors in this question set which I found distracting, not to mention annoying. Anybody who has done the GRE subject test or done the practice test from the ETS website under test conditions knows that you must read very quickly and typos/bad grammar just puts you off. Also, the questions on algorithms are ambiguously defined.. Basically I just skipped all the 'wordy' questions as the author's command of English is not good.

The balance of this question set is a little out of tune with the real GRE test. Most questions here are at about the same level, whereas the GRE's tend to give you a few straightforward questions to begin, mixed in with a few questions that require a bit more thought. By the time you hit Q50 and beyond in the real test, your brain really needs to hit top gear but that doesn't really happen with these questions - the questions at the end are at about the same difficulty as the ones at the start.

There are a few errors in some of the questions and solutions; I won't detail each of them here. There is also one question (43) where none of the choices are correct. Not helpful when you are stressed and just trying to make sense of it all! There are better resources I would recommend here, especially if you are short on time. The Princeton Review book is good and so is the GRE Mathematics Test book (but that has plenty of typoes too).
